Meta ad sizes for Facebook and Instagram

Feed images are 4:5. Stories and Reels are 9:16. Marketplace, carousels, and the right column are 1:1. The pixel sizes below are the ones Meta’s Ads Guide lists, not the older 1080-wide exports still circulating in blog posts.

What size is a Facebook or Instagram feed ad?

Meta’s recommended feed image is 4:5 at 1440 × 1800 pixels, for both Facebook Feed and Instagram Feed. Instagram Feed also accepts wider files, from 4:5 out to 1.91:1, but 4:5 is the ratio it tells you to design. A 1080 × 1350 file is the same 4:5 ratio and clears Facebook Feed’s 600 px minimum width. It is not the resolution the guide lists as recommended.

What size is a Stories or Reels ad?

Stories and Reels, on Facebook and Instagram, recommend 9:16 at 1440 × 2560 pixels. Leave about 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom, and 6% of each side free of text and logos. The exception is Facebook Stories video, where the guide’s safe zone is about 14% (250 px) of the top and 20% (340 px) of the bottom.

Length limits are not the same placement to placement. Instagram Stories video runs from 1 second to 60 minutes, and anything 16 seconds or longer may be split into cards. Instagram Reels video runs up to 15 minutes. Facebook Reels video has no maximum duration on its Ads Guide page. Facebook Feed video allows 1 second to 241 minutes.

Marketplace, carousel, and the right column

These three recommend a square. Facebook Marketplace images are 1:1 at least 1080 × 1080, up to 30 MB. A Facebook Feed carousel is the same square, 2 to 10 cards, with video cards allowed up to 4 GB and 240 minutes. The right column is desktop only, also 1:1 at least 1080 × 1080, and Meta says not to put text on that image because it renders small. Its minimum size on the page is 254 × 133 px.
